LUXMII LINEN

Our world of sustainable luxury

Why Linen

(/ˈlɪnən/) is a natural fiber made from the stems of a flax plant. Arguably one of the most sustainable textiles in the world, linen is natural, renewable, recyclable and biodegradable.

As one of the oldest and strongest natural fibers to ever exist, it is also zero-waste meaning that every part of the plant is used so as not to produce any waste. From textiles to edible food sources, every single component of flax can be used from its seeds to the production of oil.

It is also thermo-regulating, meaning that it will keep you cool when it’s warm and warm when it’s cool and hygroscopic meaning it rapidly absorbs moisture, absorbing up to 20% of its own weight before it even feels damp.

How LUXMII is making a positive impact

The cultivation of linen is the least water and energy intensive of all natural fibers which requires 400% less water than cotton. Being one of the most affordable natural fibers to grow, all that is needed is rainwater.

In addition, its ecological footprint is impressive alone with 1 hectare of flax absorbing more than 3.7 tonnes of CO2, and converting it into oxygen. Let’s put that into perspective: 3000 hectares of flax can absorb the emissions of 1 thousand cars driving around the world!
